The unusual Belogradchik fault
The Belogradchik fault was formed together with the rise ot Stara planina (the Balkan). This caused the sediment rocks (the limestones), which were located on the bottom of the former sea, to rive and the Belogradchik rocks to emerge from beneath. The fault is 60 km long and 11km wide. I mention its geophysical features in a brief, because there are many places where you can read more abut it. The picture beneath reveals the fault"s most interesting parts. The green circle encloses the Magura hill and the lake of Rabisha. The purple line encloses the main part of the Belogradchik rocks which spread on more than 30 km but most of them are inside the mentioned area. The red line is parallel to the southern wall of the fault.
I intend to write a more profound article for every one of this objects. Here, I only wish to introduce them, to show how close they are to each other and, that with no doubt, they are parts of a very interesting and unusual system.
The picture below offers a view to the fault at its length. On the left, underlined with a red line, are Belogradchik and the limestone hill "Venetsa" (the wreath), which is the northern wall of the fault. To the right we see the southern wall. Locals call these limestone hills "glamas". Between the walls is the fault itself. It looks like a big valley.
On the next picture the green line shows the southern wall, the red one - the northern wall and the tbe blue line - Rabisha lake and the the hill of Magura.
Don"t let it look repeating and boring that I pay so much attention to the collocation. For the ones who read the posts it is going to be much more clear and interesting later on than if nadn"t done so.
